Weekly Update: Imperfection

This week’s goal was to make something that I would normally buy. Here’s how it went:

Dan Dan Noodles | wemadeithome.comCHALLENGE #1

I chose to make Dan Dan noodles which have quickly become one of my favorite things to eat when we go out. They are spicy sichuan style noodles with a flavorful broth and topped with pork. I chose to make this Lady & Pups recipe. I fully intended to go to the asian market and buy the proper ingredients, but I ran out of time so I did a bit of a hack job using linguini and a hodge podge of siracha and another chilli paste I already had. And you know what? It was still incredible. So good.

Mugs | wemadeithome.com

The second challenge was to make a set of 6 matching mugs to replace our mismatched mugs. This was a little too ambitious for one week. I don’t know if I love them. They feel really chunky and masculine and my novice ceramic skills definitely show. I will show you the final result after much sanding, firing, and glazing. But it’s going to take a while.

This week’s challenges weren’t slam dunks, but I’m glad that I pushed myself to try and complete them.

Thanks for following along. Did you end up making anything? I would love to hear about it if you did.
