LESSONS LEARNED WHILE PAYING OFF OUR HOUSE

Cable was one of the first and easiest things for us to give up, actually we just never ended up subscribing to it. There are a lot of benefits to giving up cable TV some that we found a bit unexpected.

1. I HAVE MORE TIME! How many of us wish that we had more time? I wanted time to be creative and make things, time to exercise, time spend with friends, and just time that was mine. The average person watches 34 hours of television a week, that’s almost as much as a second full time job.

2. MORE MONEY! The low average for a cable bill is $62 a month. Even if you don’t want to give up your favorite programs you can watch most of them online or on Netflix for $8 a month.

3. I love not being subjected to hundreds of advertisements trying to convince me to buy things that I don’t really need.

4. Watching some TV shows has become an event. We have to go to a friends house to watch them since we don’t have cable. We bring snacks and spend time with friends and catch up during commercial breaks. It’s my favorite.

    Haley,
We just cancelled our cable last month, it was going up to 150 per month inluding internet. We have kept the internet and got netfliz as well, so i believe we have caught our cable bill in half. I am looking for cheaper internet so it will even go down more. Do you have any suggestions? thanks

      Hey Melody,

We just have the most basic internet from comcast and pay $45 a month. We seem to be able to do everything we need to do with that.
